Expedition Alaska
Alexander Lodge
Day One:
Arrive in Anchorage, you and your gear are taken by bush plane to our Beautiful Lodge on
Alexander Creek. (Twenty minutes flight from Anchorage.) You will feast on many culinary delights
native to the Great Land during your stay with us, including: Fresh barbequed salmon, smoked
salmon, freshly dug clams for chowder or frying, moose, caribou, bear, deer, and elk "steaks and
roasts", wild fireweed honey, fresh baked bread, jams and jellies from local berries, etc. You and
your party will be based out of this lodge for your weeks stay with us, living in our custom scribe
fitted, Alaskan log buildings complete with historic cache, expansive lawn and grounds, and docks
with access to Alexander Creek and the vast Susitna / Yentna / Skwentna River drainages. You will
relax in the shadows of the beautiful and historic local native landmark, Mt. Susitna, ìThe
Sleeping Lady of ancient Daina Native Legend.
Day Two:
Join us in one of our custom inboard jet boats for a scenic ride up the Susitna,
Yentna, Skwentna, Kichatna, and Kahiltna Rivers. This extensive river network afforded a
transportation system to old time prospectors, trappers, traders, hunters, fishermen, and natives
extending thousands of miles along the south and east sides of the awesome ìDenali,î ìThe Great
Oneî. The scenery is spectacular and the views of the tallest mountain in North America are
stupendous. There will be numerous opportunities to photograph and view various species of
wildlife from the safety and comfort of the boat, including moose, bear, otter, beaver, muscrat,
wolf, coyote, bald and golden eagles, hawks and falcons. We will have numerous opportunities to
fish for whatever species of Salmon is running at that particular time of the season, as well as
trophy Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, Northern Pike, and Arctic Grayling. Fly fishing is our
specialty, and, although we encourage catch and release practices, in the case of some salmon
species we will be able to barbeque your fish streamside or at the Lodge that very evening for a
fresh culinary treat rarely available outside Alaska.
Day Three:
We will be picked up by bush airplane and flown north to Denali Park for an hour of ìup
close and personalî flightseeing of the ìGreat Oneî itself. You will see the routes used by world
class mountaineers as they attempt to accomplish the challenging feat of climbing the tallest
mountain in North America. Then we will be dropped off on a rough landing strip in the historic
ìPeters Hillsî mining district for a first hand chance to pan for gold as the old time sourdoughs
did themselves. Bring home a personally retrieved momento of Alaskan Placer Gold for that ìsome
one specialî. Finish off the day with a leisurely canoe paddle down the headwaters of Kroto Creek
and Deshka Rivers into the sunset. These streams are world renowned for their salmon and trout
fisheries, and little known for their scenic vistas, wildlife viewing, and hiking opportunities.
The wildlife and photo opportunities will, of course, be abundant. Spend the night in one of our
temporary, but comfortable streamside camps and feast on the ìCatch of the Dayî!
Day 4-6:
Continue the float down to the mouth of the Deshka River, hiking, photographing, and
fishing as we go. There we will be picked up by the jet boat and ferried back to the Lodge to
freshen up and relax before your return to Anchorage via bush plane again on the morning of your
seventh day.
Due to the logistical requirements this trip requires a booking of three or more clients, the
cost is $2495.00 per person per week or $350.00 per person per day, inclusive of everything except airfare to and from Anchorage, from
your home and fishing license fees.
*Ask for our Alaskan resident special day rates for cabins and / or boats as available between bookings
